What are some really good hair treatments for shedding hair?

My hair is relaxed. I had a baby 2 months ago and it has been shedding like crazy. I had to get my hair cut because a big clump of hair came out in the back one day when I was combing it. Help!

When you are pregnant you usually shed less hair so your body is probably making up for lost time. Continue your prenatal vitamins and try a protein treatment. Aphogee makes a really good one just make sure to follow the directions except for only leaving the balancing moisturizer in for 2 minutes - try a half hour and add some of your own conditioner too. Also going natural for a while wouldn 't be a bad idea. I went natural throughout my pregnancy. But if you must wear braids don't use synthetic extensions or get them too small, your hair is already stressed. try sectioning your own hair, apply moisturizer and braiding it nightly. In the morning take the braids out and finger style. I do this every now and then just to give my hair a break from relaxers but don't wait to long because some hair will break off where the relaxed hair meets the new growth so make sure to apply that moisture nightly and to continue to take those vits. (During my pregnancy my hair was so strong and thick I had to comb it in the shower and it still brought tears to my eyes. Pregnant bodies can be stingy - I didn't break a nail or shed more than five hairs off my head but after I had my baby and finally got a realaxer it was falling out like crazy and my doctor and hair dresser gave me this same advice)

Good Luck

Stop relaxing your hair and keep it in braids for a least a whole year, after the year is up I guarantee your hair will be back. Because whether you know this or not relaxers are actually bad for your hair so give your hair some time to grow without chemicals.

This is normal after having a baby. Until all your hair growth grows out from where it was when you got pregnant you'll see changes. When I had my kids, my hairstylist recommended that I cut it to a shorter hair style to get rid of baby growth. You might want to try some hot oil treatments again and again, and a really good hair conditioner, such as Matrix products. Hope this helps!
