I'm Korean and I would like to take care of my hair without spending $$$ at the salon for hair treatments. Does anyone know how to take care of Asian hair? Keep is hydrated? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Any tips for Asian hair?
I have the same type of hair (thick and dry)... my cousin who happens to be a hairstylist used "Redkin's" smoothing shine serum to keep it hydrated and you can also style and scrunch it into a wavy look if you want. You may also would want to "air dry" rather than blow drying so that your hair won't lose moisture.
I guess any type of hair serum can keep your hair hydrated.... also heard it's good for Asian hair. I'm currently using a different brand because unfortunately they don't sell those where I live... and I guess it works just fine but I personally think Redkin is best I've tried so far. A bit pricey but it works.
I used to use Herbal's essence smoothing cream (green tube) that works best if you're lookin' for a lower price range. Can keep your hair hydrated for a long time and won't dry out as much as other brands... but it seems like they don't sell or make those anymore. :(
Also like to add that using a moisturing shampoo and conditioner can help as well, and you'll get better results while adding other hair products to your hair.

Asian Hair is thin and some are oily. I would suggest you use Herbal Esseance drama clean shampoo/conditioner if you do have oily hair. If you dont, use Matrix shampoo and conditioner, it works great! And smells like Strawberries1 It also leaves ur hair feeling soft, clean, and fresh looking.
You sound like you would have thin hair, so try to avoid flat ironers, blow-dryers, and hair straighteners, if u have to use it, then go ahead. And use a volumeizing hair booster to voluminze ur hair up a bit. Tyr John Fredia's Frizz serum $12.00 at drugstores and Wal-mart :)

Try to find hair care products with Vitamin-E. I've also seen products with soy at supermarkets.
