Can flea treatments (Frontline, etc.) cause dark patches of hair on light-colored poodles?

My vet says no, but my apricot toy poodle's hair turned into coarse dark hair only where the flea treatment was applied. Thanks in advance.

Well I don't why your vet said no, they must not use the product because it absolutely does. I have 5 Yorkies and 1 Westie-Poo and it did the same thing with all of them. It's nothing to worry about though, unfortunate side affect but I suppose better than fleas. You could try a product called Angel Eyes, it is designed to remove tear stains on light colored animals but it works pretty well to reduce the frontline patch too.

It might for the first day or so. It should not change the hair/fur permanently.

It shouldn't. I have white rat terriers and they don't turn color with flea treatment.

Maybe cause the fur is wet

I've had two apricot Standard Poodles and it didn't change their hair color or texture at all.

I've never heard of this happening. I use this on my cream colored Pekingese and this has never happened to him.
